Niagara's Top Venues For Live Comedy

What do Jerry Seinfeld, Brad Garrett, Chelsea Handler, Seth Meyers, Gerry Dee, and Rick Mercer all have in common? They all belong to the ridiculously entertaining roster of comedians who have travelled to Niagara to entertain crowds with their stand-up shenanigans. The laughs just keep coming at these amazing venues that regularly host top-tier comedic talent and stand-up comedy nights.

OLG Stage, in Niagara Falls, just steps from Fallsview Casino Resort, regularly serves as a Canadian stop for top comedians on their North American tours.

Avalon Theatre, also in Niagara Falls and located right inside the Fallsview Casino Resort, is a more intimate venue with just over 1500 seats. Judging by the list of funny folks who have performed there, its smaller size hasn’t deterred big-name comedians, including Brad Garrett, Craig Ferguson, and Tom Segura, from taking the stage.

Yuk Yuk’s Niagara Falls, located inside the Wyndham Grand Fallsview Hotel and attached via indoor skywalk to the Fallsview Casino Resort, hosts touring comedians as well as regular amateur nights.

Tasty craft beer isn’t the only thing that’s brewing at Taps Brewhouse in Niagara Falls, where weekly standup nights deliver big laughs from local talent.

In addition to being a popular venue in Niagara for well-known touring comedians, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines also hosts the Garden City Comedy Festival’s annual gala each spring.

Spotlight Comedy Club, also in St. Catharines, showcases the talent of top-tier Canadian and American stand-up comedians at live shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.

Welland’s Rose City Comedy Collective is a performance studio, training center, production company, and breeding ground for all types of comedy. Catch their monthly “Best Set” contest, when comedians have seven minutes to showcase their comedic prowess as they compete for a cash prize.

Niagara-on-the-Lake’s annual Icebreakers Comedy Festival pairs big laughs with January’s frosty Icewine Festival festivities. The Icebreakers Comedy Festival, which has been going strong for over a decade, features some of the best comedians in Canada.
