Shaw Festival Theatre

World-class theatre — in blissful Niagara wine country

Niagara-on-the-Lake

The Shaw Festival … the perfect intermission from life! Nestled in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake, just a short lovely drive down the beautiful Niagara Parkway from Niagara Falls, The Shaw is one of North America’s finest cultural attractions. Each year, from April to October, The Shaw offers an eclectic array of award-winning musicals, family-friendly offerings, quirky comedies, bold dramas, sweeping classics and thrilling whodunits. Plus, A Christmas Carol on stage in November and December.

The Shaw Festival’s 2018 Season features 14 productions presented in the Festival’s three theatres. Highlights includes: The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis – a magical, spectacular journey into Narnia (plus a pre-show workshop with an actor for the whole family!), a glamourous production of the musical Grand Hotel; The Hound of the Baskervilles – a Sherlock Holmes mystery; and Mythos: A Trilogy – Gods. Heroes. Men. written by and starring the legendary Stephen Fry.

There’s also so much beyond the stage … great workshops, seminars and backstage tours.

We went to see this at Shaw. It was a good interpretation of the original but took a few liberties when it veered off course a few times. The set was sparse but well used. We did enjoy it.
