The Handmade Market, hosted in Niagara in June and November, offers another excellent option for visitors to browse the wares of a marvellous collection of makers showcasing their creativity through art, jewellery, fashion, pottery, home decor, glass, and more, all in one central location. Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival, in October, also hosts a large vendor marketplace with an excellent selection of local makers.

But organized studio tours and markets are just two of the ways visitors to Niagara can meet local creatives. Those who prefer to DIY an art-filled day have a wide range of options.

The Exchange Studios in Niagara Falls rents studio space to 12 local creatives who showcase their work in three on-site galleries. Visit on the first Friday of the month when new openings are celebrated with casual receptions featuring local DJs and craft beverages for all to enjoy.

Niagara Artists Centre, in downtown St. Catharines, celebrates the work of Niagara artists in unique gallery spaces. No matter what time of day you’re in downtown St. Catharines, the storefront-type design of its Plate Glass Gallery allows visitors to take in a rotating roster of exhibits, all carefully selected to inspire conversation and provoke thought.

Welland’s Art Is Hell gallery displays the artwork of artists Tony Calzetta and Gabrielle de Montmollin, as well as invited regional artists.

Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake showcases the work of emerging and professional artists in its Riverside Gallery and Hummel Family Room.

The Fort Erie Arts Council's Hub and Gallery displays works by Niagara artists, including paintings, prints, greeting cards, jewelry, stained glass, and more.
